Added Members

Discipleship and Added Members Ministry
Ministry Scripture: John 8:31, John 13:35, and John 15:8

The goal and objective of this ministry is to foster the spiritual needs of new converts and/or added members, in order to help them assimilate to their new Spiritual environment. After becoming a member of Jacob Chapel, these individuals will be engaged in a 4-week Orientation Class, which will reinforce the fundamentals of the Christian faith. Upon completion of this class, added members are encouraged to choose an auxiliary to serve in. orientation before participating in any ministry.


Deacon & Deaconess

Wherefore, brethren, look ye out among you seven men of honest report, full of the Holy Ghost and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business.
Acts 6:3

Objectives:
-To assist the Pastor in carrying out the work of the Church.
-To lead the congregation in devotional and prayer services.
-To mentor and motivate young men to become workers in the Church and community.
-To provide a living example of the characteristics of a deacon as given by the Bible.

Working Goals:
-Be consistent in attending Sunday School and Bible Study.
-Participate in quarterly training initiatives.
-Participate in hymn raising classes.
-Keep in consistent contact with added members.
-Work with trustees in the upkeep of Church property.
-Junior Deacons will perform various assignments around the Church.


Verse Speaking Choir

What is Verse-Speaking?
Verse-speaking is the art of enthusiastically articulating and spreading God’s Word.

What is the Mission?
The mission of the Verse-Speaking Ministry is to edify the body of Christ by enthusiastically re-enforcing God’s word.

Content of Verse-Speaking:
The content (or subject matter) can be based on many different topics, depending on the occasion. However, Verse-Speaking presentations will always be centered around one or more of the following:
-The Scripture
-The Preached Word
-The Four Church Pillars: Doctrine, Evangelism, Stewardship and Fellowship
-The Church Covenant
-The Church’s Mission: Bible-based, Holy Spirit-led, Christ-centered, Mission-bound
-The Season (i.e. Christmas, Easter, Anniversaries, Demonstration Days, etc.)

Who Can Be Part of the Ministry?
This ministry is open to any adult member of Jacob Chapel Free Will Baptist Church, over the age of 18. Males and females are welcomed!

Requirements--Verse-Speakers Must:
-Love the Lord and have a willingness/desire to spread the Gospel!
-Attend meetings/rehearsals regularly…and be on time!
-Attend Worship service, Sunday School and Bible Study regularly
-Be community-minded (i.e. participate in community outreach activities)
-Have a positive and enthusiastic attitude
-Have good verbal skills/Speak clearly
-Be willing to speak in front of large groups
-SMILE! And be EXCITED when delivering God’s Word!

Meetings/Rehearsals
The ministry will primarily meet on specified Monday or Tuesday nights from 6 p.m. - 7 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. – 11 a.m.

Pastoral Expectations of the Verse-Speaking Ministry
It is the expectation of the pastor that the Verse-Speaking Ministry present during worship service and on special occasions, as assigned by the pastor such as Revivals, Church Anniversaries, Demonstration Days, Holidays, Choir Concerts, etc.

NOTE: Only the pastor can assign/approve the Verse-Speakers to speak on any other occasion.

Madd For Christ

The objective of the M.A.D.D. (Making a Divine Difference) for Christ Ministry is to guide youth and young adults toward salvation in Jesus Christ through Bible-based instruction and actitivty. These activities include Sunday School, Mid-week Training Institute, Toastmaster, Choirs, Ushers Ministry, Athletics Ministry, Interpretive Dance, Mime, and Step Ministries.


The U and ME Married and Engaged Couples Ministry

"Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord... Husbansds, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the Church, and gave Himself for it."
Ephesians 5:22-25

The Married Couples' Ministry provides practical Biblical teaching for husbands and wives, as well as men and women who are officially engaged to be married. With divorce rates at an all time high even among Christians, it is the goal of this ministry to empower couples with the knowlege of what God expects from us as commited Chrsitians, while also equipping husbands and wives with the tools that will help us face the every-day challenges of marriage.

The U. and M.E. Ministry meets on the last Tuesday of every month. Your suggestions and input are always welcomed. Please contact the Church office for curriculum information and meeting locations.


Shepherd’s Care Ministry

Ministry Scripture: Philippians 4:10-13

Objectives:
-Fulfill the duties of a Pastor and Shepherd to the congregation according to scripture.
-To be sensitive and available to the needs of the congregation.
-To foster a working relationship between Pastor and Church leaders.

Working Goals:
-Work with deacons, mothers, and missionaries to assess the ongoing requests for the Pastor that the Membership may have.
-Tend to the needs of the sick on a regular basis. (prayer, visitation, Communion, etc.)
-Perform dedicatory services for children age birth to 6 months.
-Provide quarterly pre-marital counseling sessions for those individual members planning to marry in the near future.
-Provide marital counseling upon request and appointment.
-Provide intervention for parents, children, and families.
-Oversee all areas of benevolence and financial assistance in the membership.
-Perform home going services and grief counseling for members



Media Ministry

Ministry Scripture: Colossians 1:3-6

Objectives
-To spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ to all the world.
-To provide individuals with the opportunity to re-experience the worship services of our Church.
-To enhance the audible and visual presentation in Worship.
-To use technology effectively in the spread of the Gospel.

Working Goals
-Monitor the sound systems, instruments, and media equipment of the Church.
-Provide tapes, compact discs, digital video discs of all worship services.
-Creatively present the Word of God through various software programs.
-Oversee the Church’s weekly radio ministry.
-Train individuals who are interested in media and technology to serve in the Church in some capacity.
-Train young and elderly members in simple computer functions and operations.


Usher Ministry

Objectives
-To provide a pleasant worship environment for everyone who enters the sanctuary.
-To uphold the integrity and sacredness of the sanctuary and the worship service.
-To lead and assist the congregation in the collection of tithes and offerings.
-To provide limited medical aid to congregants who may need it.
-To assist the Pastor with any of his needs during services.

Working Goals
-Develop strategies to collect tithes and offerings in the most timely and efficient manner.
-Provide the most comfortable seating possible for the elderly and disabled congregants.
-Work with the Pastor to eliminate walking at inappropriate times in the worship service.
-Assist sexton in maintaining a clean worship environment.
-Become CPR certified in order to provide assistance to congregants if necessary.
