Pastor O. Jermaine Simmons, Sr.
Born in the great state of Georgia and raised in the Garden State of New Jersey, Rev. O. Jermaine Simmons, Sr. is a fourth-generation preacher, pastor, and community leader. Since December of 2005, he has provided dynamic servant-leadership to the Jacob Chapel Baptist Church of Tallahassee, Florida. Under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, Pastor Simmons preaches the Gospel of Jesus Christ with passion and conviction. His pastoral ministry has led to over 6,000 souls being added to the Body of Christ and the local church.
Through the years, Pastor Simmons has demonstrated a sincere heart for people and the community at-large. He leads Jacob Chapel in building and maintaining a model for outreach ministry that is second to none. Based on Jesus’ mandate in Matthew Chapter 25, here are just a few efforts that speak to Pastor Simmons’ heart for ministry and people.
- Daily food pantry and clothing closet at the church
- Weekly meals delivered to the elderly
- Weekly partnership with Publix to provide free bread to the community
- Monthly partnership with Second Harvest to provide free meats, vegetables, and non-perishable items to the community
- Farm Share partnership to provide free vegetables to needy families
- Annual Back-to School outreach for thousands of youth
- Local school adoption
- Prison outreach
- Weekly radio ministry
- Youth mentoring programs
- Shelter for homeless men in cold winter months
Pastor O. Jermaine Simmons is a lover of education in and outside of the local church. He received his Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education in 2001, a Master’s degree in Pastoral Counseling in 2019 and is currently pursuing a Doctorate of Ministry from the Samuel DeWitt Proctor School of Theology at Virginia Union University. He published his first book, “I Need a Man” in 2016, speaking directly to the spiritual and emotional needs of men everywhere. Personally, he and his wife Elise have been married since 2002, and they are the proud parents of one son, J.J.
